Green Wedding

Our natural setting on Mont-Rigaud, in the heart of a maple and cedar forest, is the perfect setting for a green wedding. Our five acres of flower gardens, our stocked trout pond, horse stables and walking trails are just a few reasons to choose Auberge des Gallant for your destination wedding.

Our commitment to the environment and local farmers is well established and has been a way of life for us well before it became the « In thing »

Here are a few ideas that may help you plan your special day:  recycled paper invitations, menus, etc.

Bring flowers you have been growing yourself or chosen according to your own specific taste, to decorate the church, the ceremony or the banquet. Flowers are abundant in our vast gardens and we always use them widely inside the Inn. Our usual decoration is pleasant and can be considered sufficient and perfectly suitable for a wedding. We do not provide specific floral decoration for weddings.

Feel free to bring your own flowers - provided you live close enough to be able to deliver them the day before the event. Of course you can also call upon a florist. In any case, it's a great idea to offer your flowers for your guests to take home when they leave to enjoy for several days after.

Instead of confetti, use rose petals, Flower shops make petals from the flowers they did not sell and these will simply compost into the ground. You can also make a carpet of rose petals for the aisle if you are getting married outside.

Give out gifts like small trees to be planted by your guests or give a bottle of Maple syrup from our very own Maple shack. We have a 250 ml bottle that can be reused for oil or anything else once the syrup is finished. You can decorate this bottle to suit your theme or why not offer maple sugar candies in organic green woven boxes.

For the cocktail serve beer from Schoune a local brewer that supplies us with blond, red and even a maple beer made from organic hops from their farm in St Polycarpe.

Have the garden vegetable cream soup that is made with fresh seasonal produce. This enables us to buy locally what is available at that time of year, which helps us support our local farmers who produce vegetables for us.

Have the garden greens with Endives from St Clet or pasta which is made locally.

Our bread comes from la Boulangerie Paradis which is in Rigaud.

Our guinea fowl is free range as is the pheasant once again from a farm in Rigaud.

Our Rabbits are from another local farm in les Cedres.

Pork and chicken are from Québec.

Cheese platter with local fresh cheese from Peveril Farm or Diodatti (goat cheese) we only serve Québec fine cheese.

Serve our fresh well water instead of bottles of water during the cocktail and meal. Our water is so good that we guarantee that guests will reach for a glass of water instead of the wine to quench their thirst! You will not need more than ½ bottle of wine per person with their meal.

For a wedding cake, we have a cupcake tree that can be used instead of a traditional wedding cake that is made on site.

We also supply a basic decor that seems to please our brides and grooms so you really have nothing else to do.

It is basic white so if you wish to add a touch of color, go right ahead!
